RE: Digital TV Converter Box for RV/Travel Trailer

We were in Mancelona last week. Got about 10 digital stations. I would suspect that you have a bad box or bad hookup. The stations near Traverse City are quite strong.

RE: Barrel Chair replacement - Lazy Boy? or Euro Chair?

We have La-Z-Boy 532 recliners in our house. Love them. When we remodeled our MH we looked into the chairs. La-Z-Boy has raised the price on these chairs to over $700.
After looking around we found a Lambright Lazy Relaxor from Bradd and Hall in Elkhart, IN. Now that everything is installed. We are very happy with our choice for the RV. We did get the chair on a closeout for $450, that helped us make the decision. There are other places to buy the Lambright chairs around northern IN. Including the manufacturer. Lambright Aluminum. They also sell at RV shows.

RE: 50 AMP surge protectors

If you’re main goal is to protect from surges then the higher the Joules rating the better the protection. The SSP-50 is only rated @ 950 for $114 & the Progressive’s EMS-HW50C is 3,640 Joules @ $322 both at Tweetys's.
But the more prevalent problems that you can encounter are high/low voltage, high/low Hz, reverse polarity, open ground/neutrals, rapidly fluctuating current & improperly wired 240 vs. 120 pedestals. Continuous low voltage can damage many of your RV appliances.
Click HERE for a chart that compares Progressive’s & SurgeGuard’s products. Although this chart was created by Progressive supplier it is fairly accurate with the exception that it does not include SurgeGuard’s most recent 50 amp unit (which is $455 @ Tweety’s
Click HERE for Tweety’s to compare prices & details of both Progressive & SurgeGuard. Tweety’s used to have the lowest prices but don’t know if they still do or not.
I chose Progressive's hardwired (EMS-HW30C for 30 amp or EMS-HW50C for 50 amp RVs) unit because of its remote monitor, longer warranty and higher Joules rating.
Dave
Best explanation of the differences. Spend the money and get as many features as you can afford.
The links do not work. Takes you to Tweety's home page.

RE: 50a surge protector when using 30a or 15a adapter

I run my 50 amp surge protector on 15 and 30 amp adapters as needed. Both lines indicator lights turn on. Just do not turn both AC's on at same time.

RE: I-17 from Phoenix to Flagstaff - Decent or steep?

I have only done that stretch of road from Flagstaff to Phoenix. The grades are 6 and 7%. Turns are not that tight. Should not be a problem for you though. Just take your time.I've made that route a zillion times and can't remember any signs saying 6% - sure didn't seem like it, but guess I could be wrong.
You are probably right about 6 and 7% signs. I had to take trans out of OD to make exhaust brake hold 50 mph going down the steepest parts. That usually means grade is at least 6%.

RE: 12V Electrical issue(long)

Check all grounds on your 12 volt DC system. Including battery terminals. I found a loose connection at converter causing similar problems.

RE: Dolly tow 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan????

I had a company vehicle for 30 years. Retired now and must buy my own vehicles. Kind of miss that option.
Weight may be the problem. Most dolly's are rated to tow a max of around 4,000 lbs. We have towed our Montana.
I did a quick check on UHaul's site. They claim the caravan is too heavy for a tow dolly.
My Demco Kar Kaddy SS460 is rated to tow a max weight of 4,500. Check the weight of your Caravan. It may under that weight.

I have a Wilson trucker antenna and amplifier. Works great. The model amplifier depends on which service you are using.

RE: RV Coffee Table

My sister and her husband stopped in Elkhart this summer. They looked at the tables at the surplus places. Decided that they did not meet the standards that they wanted in a table of this type. They went to Focal Wood Products and got the same table better built. It was cheaper than Millers. But I do not know how much.
